ABOUT HISTORIC

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

By reclaiming its past––as well as its buildings––Historic Downtown Los Angeles is a vibrant creative and entertainment center.   Located near Broadway, Spring, and Main, Historic Downtown Los Angeles is still adding residents, retail, restaurants, entertainment venues and creative businesses anywhere in the city.

It contains 21 theaters in the Broadway Theater District, multiple museums and non-profits and a growing residential community of artists of all kinds. Historic Downtown LA is within minutes of every amenity of an international class city.

Something else makes Historic Downtown Los Angeles special. Not only does it have every benefit of a major urban center, it is  small enough of a place where you don’t need a computer to do your social networking.

Even with the neighborhood’s rapid growth, there’s still a small town atmosphere that first began at the turn of the last century by urban pioneers, and remains a integral part of the neighborhood’s  DNA.

That is what makes Historic Downtown Los Angeles unique. Experience the urbanity of a major city and be steps away from your home or your office in a neighborhood where you are not just another face in the crowd.

Now 2010 is set to be our most successful year yet.

Revitalizing Historic Corridor Panel set for April 15

Experts will lead a discussion about the successes of Downtown's past and what is being done to continue the revitalization of historic corridors.

The successes of the live/work housing program have spurred investment in the downtown area, however, historic communities still face a challenging capital market, complicated tax credit programs, lack of parking, difficulties of rehabilitation, vestiges of blight and neglect, and restrictions on new development. Older communities like Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles are sure to be redeveloped. What are the hurdles investors and developers will face? What is being done to address them?
